The Trials of Olivia's Life

Her life is so precious and she is such a fragile soul.  Olivia's first trial would be being brought into this world prematurely.  I know that God has a plan and a purpose for everything and in one way or another she will be okay.  On October 25 we found out that she has a hole in her heart, but the doctors are doing great things for her.  She has been trying to breathe on her own but still needs the ventilator and will for at least another 3 weeks.  On October 26th the doctors had to increase her oxygen again...but on a positive note her digestive tract has digested everything she has been fed.  This little angel is such a fighter. On Thursday October 28-we were told that Olivia was having trouble with her liver. There was a spot that they had seen but with prayers being answered it was just a shadow.  Olivia had to have a blood transfusion and that went great.  She had to be reincubated after that.   The doctor's called this morning and Olivia has a bleeding stomach ulcer due to the medicine that they gave her for her heart murmur. Her heart murmur is not closing like we would love for it to do, and they are considering a surgical operation to close the hole. The hole is called a "ductus arteriosus", and it is in between the pulmonary trunk and the aorta. If this hole does not close, it can cause Olivia's heart to enlarge b/c it is trying to work overtime. Also, Olivia is having a test on her brain Wednesday, so please pray that she does not have any bleeding on the brain!
I thank you all for the prayers that you have been sending up for her, the prayers for me and the prayers for my family
This was taken only about 6 weeks ago.  I did not think
she would come into this world so soon.

Look at her tiny little feet

It is amazing how something so small can affect your
entire life.  Please pray for her strength

How It All Began

From the moment that I found out that Olivia Jane was coming into this world, I was so happy! Another bundle of joy to add to our family…what could be better? Not for second, did I ever imagine that she would come 14 weeks too early and be rushed to Huntsville Hospital’s NICU and be put on a ventilator! Olivia Jane was not due to meet us until January 2011; however, she came feet first into this world on October 24, 2010. She weighed 2 lbs, 8 ounces, and is 13.25 inches long! We are so blessed to have Olivia Jane in our lives, but we never thought that we would meet her in person so soon. I pray that God will bless her with the health and strength that she needs to come home as soon as possible. All I ask for is prayer! With the power of prayer, Olivia Jane can come home soon…healthy!
